Two activities that includes producing modified Data Models. The first activity is a one time change to all models at all levels (project, system, enterprise) where the status of the modeling objects that just got implemented into production and that where shown to be in progress need to be changed to the status of implemented, except for the modeling objects that are affected by any other project. That change of status usually correspond to a graphical change, for example to an outline color change, and to an entry addition to the implemented model object history track, if such track is kept in the respective data models.
The second activity is recurring. It is done a few days or weeks after a PDM implementation and also on a regular basis, like every 6 months to every year, depending on how stable the database is. It consist of comparing the database’s PDM of record with a freshly reversed engineered PDM to find differences. The PDM of record is updated with the non-structural differences, e.g. performance improvement related. Any structural difference found needs to be reported as unauthorized to the Data Governance committee, as emergency structural changes should have been generated through the PDM of record.
These are a modeling activity that should pre-exist TDM in the enterprises that observe good data governance practices.
